The day before yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the inauguration of a modern “AI Lab” at Sheetal Academy—a leading institution in the educational sector within Parola Taluka.

The AI Lab facility was formally inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Nilesh Patil (Director, Icon Hospital), Dr. Chetan Naik (Orthopedic Specialist), retired teacher Mr. D.M. Patil, Dr. More, and Sangh representatives Mr. Vishnu Gite and Mr. Shrikant Pathak.

The current era is widely recognized as the age of AI—that is, Artificial Intelligence. In every corner of the globe and across every field, AI technology is making its distinct contribution felt. Conceived by Chairman Ravindra Patil, this initiative—the first “AI Lab” in the district—can truly be described as a boon for the students of Parola Taluka; its objective is to introduce these students to this technology and to unlock global avenues of progress for them in the years to come.

In India, there is a unique fascination with new technologies; compared to other parts of the world, Indians tend to embrace them much faster. Alongside the adoption of new technology, a discourse naturally begins regarding the associated benefits as well as potential drawbacks. However, as the era evolves, numerous such modern technologies will continue to emerge; we must remain prepared for them, lest we risk becoming obsolete.

While working on initiatives such as “Start-up India” and “Self-Reliant India” through the ‘Namami270’ platform, I have observed that AI is playing a pivotal role in the majority of ongoing projects.

During this event, while interacting with the students, we engaged in discussions covering various topics: how to effectively utilize AI, the specific precautions to be taken when handling new technologies, and the common myths and misconceptions surrounding AI.

Although sensationalist discussions, blogs, and YouTubers—often driven by a desire for self-promotion—may propagate fears that “AI will cost thousands of jobs” or that “tasks previously requiring many people can now be done with a single click,” it is equally true that AI simultaneously creates a wealth of new opportunities. Therefore, we must accept this reality, strive to understand it deeply, and actively embrace it. Such technology is akin to a weapon. Weapons were possessed by the Mughals, and by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as well; however, those who utilized them for the upliftment of society, the building of the nation, and the redemption of humanity are the ones who are revered. Similarly, while this technology may possess a distinctly different side, if we employ it in the right context, it will undoubtedly prove to be a milestone in the advancement of humanity.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Ravindra Patil; recognizing global trends and requirements, he has—through this laboratory—opened the doors of global technology to the students of this taluka.
Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this excellent program.
